A fundamental pillar of our society is the transformative impact of education, the arts, culture and creativity. Bequests, or Gifts in Wills, provide opportunities to support causes that align with your personal values and interests.
My partner Gill and I are members of four such bequest programs, including Wesley College’s The Sapere Aude Bequest Society. We join other individuals and families who have included a gift in their Will as a gesture of ‘giving back’ to institutions that we respect and appreciate.
Bequests, irrespective of size, make a difference and can be aligned to personal values such as assisting children from disadvantaged backgrounds to access the arts or, as many fellow alumni do, provide funding for potentially life-changing scholarships.
As I reflect on my enduring connection with Wesley College as a student, past parent, future grandparent and a longstanding former employee, I appreciate how significant the College has been in my life. I retired from Wesley at the end of 2024 after almost 20 years of service and appreciate the impact that Wesley has had on both myself, and my daughters, Tess (OW2004) and Sophie (OW2009). You never leave Wesley – the friends you make stay with you for life, and I consider the College network to be one of the great advantages of a Wesley education.
I hope that our support to the College will assist in providing opportunities for future generations to experience a life-transforming Wesley education, and I invite others to consider supporting this important program.
