Collegians Football Club

Collegians have started the year off very positively. After eight rounds, the men’s seniors are six wins and two losses and sit in second place on the ladder.  The women’s seniors are five wins, three losses and sit in fourth place. Both teams are playing in the top section of the VAFA.

Ellie George and Trish O'Neill (OW2004) are both enjoying dominant seasons for Collegians Women in the VAFA Premier A Division

There have been many positives but the men’s team winning two consecutive games by over 100 points is a feat we can be very proud of. The historians don’t know if this has ever been done before but I am sure someone will tell me if it has happened or not!

Numbers on the track are good; having a winning culture and making it hard to get into the team is something we have always pushed for but hasn’t always happened. Our women’s teams, both the reserves and the seniors, have terrific numbers while many other club’s numbers are going backwards. We need to thank our Senior Women's Coach, Dom Lucarelli and our Women’s Football Director, Steph Leondidis for all the work they are doing to keep our female sides so strong.

Luke McCleary (OW2016) sends the team into attack. Go Lions!

Our first club lunch was a great success with 80 people coming together at the Trott for our first home game. Sponsorship and membership income is also up this year, but we are always looking for more; to keep competing at the top level, we must properly resource the club and like everything, this comes at a cost.
