OWCA Bowls
We commenced our bowls season at MCC Swinburne on Wednesday 6 September where six brave players enjoyed a great day of bowls.
At our next event on 20 September, we retained the trophy against West Brighton in a wonderful day of bowls and as always, the hospitality from our host was fabulous. It is always great to keep the trophy in the name and hands of the OWCA. The latest match was played against MCC at MCC Swinburne. We had one rink score of 12 to 12 while the second rink won 17 to 14, so the OWCA had a successful day.
We normally play against Scotch, Carey and Melbourne Grammar during the season and at the APS tournament day in March 2024, we will compete against bowlers from Scotch, Xavier, Haileybury, Carey, Melbourne Grammar, St Kevins, and Caulfield Grammar.
For the APS tournament day and competition throughout the season, we accept bowlers who are Wesley Collegians and relatives of OWs such as grandparents, aunts and uncles.
The OWCA supplies bowlers with a bowls top and the rest of the uniform is player supplied. We can purchase Wesley caps or bucket hats for those bowlers who require them (at cost).
We have a longer season this year, but our player numbers are declining. We have 20 names on the list, but we struggle to have enough available for our matches so if you would like a game, please let me know.
