Sharing with someone special

William from Year 2 (L) and Henry from Prep enjoy a special moment with their grandmother, Hazel Morris, in the Great Space.

Tea and scones are a delight at any time, but when they’re shared with someone special, there’s nothing better.

Late in Term 2, Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day at St Kilda Road’s Junior School provided just the occasion, when students across all year levels proudly hosted a morning or afternoon tea with their significant others in the Great Space.

Zara Ahad from Year 4 loved the day because ‘we got to spend some time together at school and they got to see what I do every day. It made me feel happy, and I think they remembered what it was like to be a kid again.’ Clementine Hedley from Year 3 thought ‘It was great seeing and talking to my grandparents at school and we had fun doing an activity together.’

‘It has been such a welcome sight and feeling to have our families and friends join us for these beautiful celebrations across the mornings and afternoons,’ said Head of Junior School Sabeena DeBono. ‘For the last two years, we haven’t been able to run this event and it has been simply magical to do so once again!’

Hazel Morris, proud grandmother to grandsons William and Henry McDonald, agrees. ‘It was great to be back on campus as it has been a long time,’ she said. ‘It is always lovely to see children in action and so well supported by the wonderful staff at the Junior School. It is great to see how the students are treated and how they respond so positively.'
