A winning read that's hard to put down

If ‘everyone has a story to tell’, then Emma Carney (OW1989) has more than most.

With a life packed full of triumph and tribulation, tragedy and titles, Emma decided to put them all down on paper  in the form of her new book and soon-to-be bestseller Hard Wired. Life, Death and Triathlon. It tells the tale of a young girl fresh out of school who found the sport of triathlon, and changed it forever.

With an unmatched record, she devastated the international circuit, reaching the pinnacle of her sport and was later inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. Defined by a relentless pursuit of sporting excellence, she was known to detest losing more than she loved to win. A fiercely independent athlete, fitting in and conforming was never her style.

Somehow, between writing a book and everything else going on, Emma  has also found time to take on the role  of Collegians Football Club's Partnership and Media Manager. Her world-class knowledge of sporting sponsorship, community engagement and sports governance, particularly with regard to the inclusion of women, is unsurpassed and made her a natural for the position. In her role she will work closely with sponsors, members, donors, government authorities and the College to continue to deliver outstanding results for Collegians. And as if that's not enough, she will also be managing the Club's social media platforms and website! We wish Emma every success in this role and for the sale of her new book. The OWCA looks forward to working closely with Emma and Collegians in 2021.
