Simon Rooke appointed President of the College Council

Wesley College is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Rooke as President of the College Council.

Simon has served on the Wesley College Council since February 2016 and brings with him a wealth of relevant experience. A Lawyer and Chartered Accountant, Simon has practised in accounting, mergers and acquisitions, international tax and litigation with PwC since 1995 and holds extensive governance experience across listed companies, large private companies and government entities.

‘I believe education is the foundation of a successful society, and I was thrilled to have the opportunity to contribute to the excellent, thoughtful education that Wesley provides,’ Simon shared.

‘With my background in accounting and governance, I place great importance on prudent, disciplined financial management as the foundation for Wesley's long-term sustainability. It's what allows us to keep delivering an outstanding, values-driven education while working hard to keep a Wesley education as accessible as possible for families, now and into the future.’

Simon explains what's stayed constant throughout his time on Council is the shared focus of parents, staff and students on helping every student achieve their personal best, as well-rounded people ready to contribute to society. Looking ahead, he's focused on continuing Wesley's 160-year history while adapting to the needs of an increasingly dynamic world, noting the College's ethos of ‘Daring to be Wise’ has never been more important.

We also take this opportunity to sincerely thank outgoing President, Professor Rachel Webster AO, for her outstanding contribution and dedicated leadership of the College Council.

Congratulations, Simon ─ we look forward to your leadership in the years ahead.
