Our triumphant Boys' First Volleyball Team: 2025 APS Premiers
The summer of 2025 will be remembered as a season of growth, achievement and historic milestones for Wesley College sport.
The Girls’ Volleyball program, which has a long history of stellar seasons, secured an impressive 3rd place finish, cementing Wesley’s reputation as a volleyball powerhouse. But the standout moment of the summer was our first-ever APS premiership victory in Boys’ Volleyball, a landmark achievement that showcased the team’s dedication and skill.
In the final match of the season against ladder leader Melbourne Grammar, our boys showed the same grit and determination that earned them a stunning gold medal at the 2024 Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast last year, coming from 2 sets to 1 down and holding their nerve to win the fifth and deciding set 15-12 to finish joint premiers.
Coach Mick Stevens was overwhelmed with emotion after this historic victory. ‘The fighting spirit of this team was incredible. They had to face some big moments and showed great maturity under pressure. The belief they had in each other carried them through every challenge, achieving the goal they set for themselves at the start of the season - to make history as APS Premiers. I am immensely proud of this incredible group.’
