The Klims return to Wesley

Michael Klim (OW1994) at the opening of KLIMSWIM

From his early days in the school swimming pool to winning gold in both the Commonwealth and Olympic Games, the water has been a lifelong passion for Michael Klim (OW1994). Now he and his sister Anna Eagle (Klim OW1992) are returning to the site of their schooling to share that passion with today’s students and our wider community.

Michael and Anna were back at Wesley to open their newest KLIMSWIM centre and Learn to Swim program in the St Kilda Road Campus pool. ‘It’s such a great pleasure to open our new KLIMSWIM centre and be able to pass on the skill of swimming and water safety to the next generation,’ Michael said.

The swimmers at the first clinic, who included some of the state’s most exciting up-and-coming swimmers, enjoyed learning a few things from one of Australia’s most recognisable former Olympians and many were inspired by both his success as an elite athlete (and now-entrepreneur) and his humility.

There’s always a place at Wesley for our OWs, and it’s fantastic to see them remain connected with the community. ‘For my sister and I, it is extra special to come back.’ Michael said.
