Wesley track stars swap purple and gold for green and gold

Wesley track and field squad members Juliet McBurney and Melvin Monleh will swap the purple and gold for the green and gold when they compete at the 2019 Oceania Games in Townsville from 24 to 28 June. Juliet was selected after her personal best to claim gold in the Women’s Under 20 3,000 metres steeplechase at the 57th Australian Junior Athletics Championships at Sydney Olympic Park in April. Melvin was selected after his fast finish to take silver in the Men’s Under 18 100 metres at the same meet.

‘Wearing the green and gold is such an honour,’ Juliet said. ‘I love running, but it also builds my discipline, resilience and time management, and that helps me in my school work.’

The pair were two of Wesley’s 18 finalists across 25 events at the Australian Junior Athletics Championships meet.
