Wesley Year 9 students along with the Clunes community celebrated the magnificent 12th Annual Booktown Festival over the course of two days. Fraser Street in Clunes was packed with stalls selling everything from books to Dutch waffles all weekend long. On Sunday, Clunes was lucky to be visited by Wesley Elsternwick’s Big Band, which performed a number of songs for the public down at Collins Place.

The Booktown Festival was enjoyed by countless kids, who were entertained for hours on end by the straw maze, potato spirals, and a humongous world map game. I was volunteering down by the straw maze on Saturday and it was a lot of fun to see all the kids having a great time. After I finished volunteer work, I got to eat some of the food from the stalls money well spent. It seemed everyone from the locals to interstate visitors was having a great time. I met some very interesting locals and passionate book lovers during both my free time and volunteer work.

The Booktown Festival was suitable for all ages, book lovers or not. It was a really good experience and I am really fortunate to have experienced the Booktown Festival during my stay at Clunes. I am sure that almost everyone that arrived this year will be back the next.
