Career dreams take flight
In Term 1 we were very fortunate to host a presentation by Captain Jeremy Schmidt, Chief Pilot at Jetstar Airways Australia/New Zealand, and Ms Jo Reimer, Pilot Resourcing Manager at Jetstar, in the St Kilda Road Senior School. Jeremy is both a Wesley alumnus and a current Wesley parent. Jeremy and Jo spoke about career opportunities in commercial aviation during a lunchtime meeting which was attended by students and staff.
The presentation covered the varied career paths that lead to becoming a pilot, a day in the life of a Jetstar pilot and the many opportunities available to work in Australia and overseas. Students were also given the chance to ask many questions, including queries relating to subject prerequisites and health requirements.
We would like to thank Jeremy and Jo for the excellent opportunity to hear about an exciting career in aviation from one of Australia's most experienced commercial pilots, and Sam Rapisarda from the Careers department for organising this event.
