Remembrance Day Appeal

Elsternwick Year 5 student leaders volunteered to sell poppies on Glenhuntly Road for the Remembrance Day Appeal last week. There was a great community feel, with Loco Cafe hosting the students for the day. Here’s what our students had to say about volunteering for the Remembrance Day Appeal:

‘I’ve learnt that people still suffer from the loss of soldiers in wars, but the RSL are helping the families of soldiers who have died or were injured. I feel honoured to be able to help those families.’ Maya

‘People in Elsternwick are very generous and have been happy to donate to the Poppy Appeal. Some people have also shared their stories with us of family members who have served in war.’ Jasper

‘I’m selling poppies because I want to help people who served our country. I’ve learned that it’s not just soldiers who need to recover from war, but their families too.’ Sara

‘From volunteering, I’ve learnt a lot about why it is important to support returned soldiers and their families.’ Gus
