Musical excellence

On Saturday 5 September the Senior Symphonic Wind Ensemble from St Kilda Road, conducted by Mark Ford, was awarded first place in the Fine Music Advanced Band Section of the Royal South Street Society Competitions in Ballarat. The adjudicators were very impressed with the band's performances of Symphony No.1 by Johan de Meij, O Nata Lux by Morten Lauridsen and Riverdance by Bill Whelan. In the Fine Music Advanced Band Section, the other two ensembles performing were from Ringwood Secondary College and Yarra Valley Anglican Grammar.
