At Elsternwick our school leaders attended a reflection and laying of a wreath in the courtyard. Year 9 students Daisy Shnier and Jesse Tammesild played the Last Post and Rouse.
The Glen Waverley campus hosted Remembrance Day ceremonies and Wesley student representatives also accompanied veterans in laying wreaths and poppies at the City of Monash/Waverley RSL ceremony.
St Kilda Road recognised Remembrance Day in a number of ways including special assemblies and chapels for the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools, during which all paused for one minute’s silence to reflect on war and the sacrifice involved.
Year 11 students organised the making of over 200 handmade poppies for staff and students, which were distributed prior to the Senior School chapel.
A number of our students were also involved in a special Remembrance Day Service held at The Alfred hospital. The Middle School singers sang beautifully and Year 10 student, Charlie Joyce played the Last Post and Rouse brilliantly.
Remembrance Day is an important event at Wesley College. It reminds us all to honour the fallen (including many Wesley College alumni) and to appreciate all we have, as a result of their ultimate sacrifice.
Lest we forget.
