Alanna Smith in Worlds Top 5

As a member of the Australian Under 19s Gems basketball team, 2014 Wesley College Year 12 student, Alanna Smith, has been awarded a bronze medal when they withstood a comeback from Spain to win 69 – 62 at the FIBA Under 19 World Championships, held recently in Russia.

Alanna dominated the court for the entire game, scoring 12 straight points for Australia. After finishing the game with 20 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks, her performance helped her earn a spot in the Women's World Championship All-Star Five, making her one of the best five players in the world, currently, for her age group.

Later this year, Alanna will begin her college education at Stanford University in California.
