Why wouldn't making music be fun?

The Elsternwick Music Camp has been a highlight of Term 1 for many years. Music Camp provides students with the opportunity to get to know other music students, rehearse new music, prepare music for forthcoming assemblies and performances, share our music-making with others, and simply have fun in the process. The three-day camp enables approximately 70 students in the Symphonic Band, Big Band, Middle School Choir and McArthur Strings to rehearse intensively, away from the ties and commitments associated with daily life.

The camp is held in the idyllic setting of Fern Gully Lodge in Healesville, which is able to accommodate several large ensembles simultaneously.

One of the many joys of this camp is to witness the energy and excitement of the students during breaks, and to see them supporting each other in their mixed year level groups of Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La and Ti, for meal duties and in the annual trivia challenge. It is also great to see the very professional approach adopted by the young musicians in learning such a comprehensive repertoire, to be performed at various Wesley functions later in the year. The considerable amount of preparation by staff for Music Camp resulted in a smoothly run event, and the long weekend in March was welcomed by all involved.
