Award winning redevelopment project

Award winning redevelopment project

The construction team behind the Moubray Street Precinct redevelopment, Cockram Construction, has been recognised at the 2014 Master Builders Association of Victoria Awards, receiving the Excellence in Construction of Commercial Buildings Award. This prestigious award is reflection of Cockram’s success in “delivering a complex building in a sensitive, operational environment, to an exceptional level of quality.” The entire precinct blends harmoniously with its surroundings and, as one student noted, “offering the excitement of the new, and the comfort of the old”.

Managing director, Mal Batten said, “The team puts in a great effort, and clearly the outcomes are outstanding. The awards are also a great chance for everyone in the company to reflect on the fabulous outcomes we achieve across all our projects. The success of Cockram in these awards is a public recognition of our commitment to excellence, in all we do.”

The project, consisting of the new Music School, redeveloped and rejuvenated Adamson Hall and the refurbished Menzies Wing has previously achieved a 5-star green rating in design, for the ecological efforts made by the College right from the start of the project. Demolition and construction waste from the old Music School was put aside for re-use and recycling. The new building automatically enters “power saving mode” when not occupied and rainwater is collected and stored for use in toilets and for irrigation.

Wesley College is delighted that Cockram Construction has received this award for their magnificent work on the Moubray Street Precinct redevelopment project.
