Go Maddie Go!

Year 8 Glen Waverley student Maddie Scott has recently been selected for the Victorian Under 15 Girls’ Hockey Team. Maddie’s achievement is a real testament to her hard work and skill, at 13 years old she is the youngest player on the team. Maddie also currently represents the Wesley Firsts, Camberwell Hockey Club and Hawthorn Hockey Club, spending between 10-12 hours training every week.

Go Maddie Go

Maddie has been playing the sport since she was 6 years old, coming from a family with a deep connection to the sport. Her great grandfather founded Camberwell Hockey Club, and her grandfather was a founding member of MCC Hockey Club and represented Victoria.  Maddie’s cousin, who also played at Hawthorn Hockey Club, represented Australia.

Maddie has been playing at a state level since she was 11, and considers her selection this year to be her biggest sporting achievement.

Maddie says Hockeyroo players Anna Flanagan and Casey Eastham are a big inspiration to her, and “with lots of lots of hard work and determination (her) dream is to one day play for Australia too”.

Wesley College wishes Maddie all the best for the season ahead.
