Raising funds and heart rates

Raising funds and heart rates

Mother’s Day raises “happy heart rates” each year as children plan, prepare and give their mothers a day to remember and cherish. This was certainly the case for Junior School students at Wesley’s Glen Waverley campus this year, along with the added bonus of being able to give a generous, heartfelt gift to the Breast Cancer Network of Australia (BCNA). The first Glen Waverley Junior School Mother’s Day Classic Walk, an idea inspired by two Junior School mothers, got everyone’s hearts racing.

Walkers donated a gold coin to pace out or stroll around the BCNA pink lady-marked track around the Williams Oval. Many students then went shopping at the annual Mother’s Day stall.

These two activities raised $1,190.90 for BCNA. Louise Feliciano, Fundraising Officer of BCNA is pictured above with Junior School Social Justice in Action Leaders Matthew Tabalujan and Michaela Young, when she visited the school to receive a presentation cheque at a Junior School assembly.

Everyone in the Junior School was pleased to help this worthy cause and are looking forward to “raising the heart rates” of all dads next term.

Congratulations to all those involved for this wonderful gift to the Breast Cancer Network of Australia.
