Rebekah Baynard-Smith, Glen Waverley
I really wanted to lead the prefect group at Glen Waverley and represent this amazing school in greater capacities. I feel so grateful to have an opportunity to inspire peers and all members of the school community to embrace all that Wesley offers, and to encourage everyone to leave their own positive mark on the school and wider community. I know that Year 12 is going to be demanding, but I will make every effort to support and encourage each prefect to fulfil their hopes of their portfolios.
Brigitte Beck, St Kilda Road
I've always endeavoured to be a role model in many aspects of life and strongly believe in hard work and the ability to strive for excellence in achieving success and with an outgoing personality, I feel very comfortable being a leader. I aspired to be a school captain to encourage the students at Wesley to get involved in new activities, set new challenges and to make the most of school life. A busy, fulfilling year lies ahead and I hope to achieve nothing but success, with humility and pride.
Sam Leonard, Glen Waverley
The attitude I display towards school life exemplifies the Wesley ethos of diversity of involvement, of being involved and involving others. Being a school captain has given me the opportunity to be included in all aspects of Wesley life and to be part of a passionate prefect team. Together we can encourage others to participate and to share their experiences and talents with others. I want to encourage and inspire other students to have a go and reach their potential. The challenge is to find the right balance between sport, academia and my social life.
William Orr, St Kilda Road
I wanted to become a school captain as I have always enjoyed contributing to school life. From the time that I entered Wesley in Year 7, I have always loved being involved in as many aspects of Wesley life as I could and sharing all of these incredible experiences with all the friends I’ve made along the way. As a result, I really wanted to give back to the Wesley community, not to mention give a voice to the student body. Over the coming year I think managing my studies along with other commitments will be demanding, but I believe that the challenges and opportunities to come this year will make it the most memorable year yet.
