International language scholarship
St Kilda Road Year 11 student, Georgia McMahon is one of only 10 students world-wide, and the only student from Australia, to be awarded an educational scholarship to travel to Cuenca, Spain for two weeks in August this year. The True Spanish Experience scholarship immerses students in the life of the central Spanish city of Cucena, where they will enjoy intensive Spanish language classes as well as a huge array of cultural experiences whilst living with a host family.
Cucena is an historic walled town and a UNESCO World Heritage site
Georgia commenced her Spanish ab initio studies this year, and is hopeful the experience will improve her speaking and writing abilities. She is looking forward to a unique travel experience and can’t wait to gain friends from around the world; there have been nine other students selected from China, Russia, Poland, Austria, United Kingdom and Brazil.
