Dear Wesley families
Wesley Parents (SKR) welcomes you to the 2022 school year. Our feelings of excitement and anticipation are tempered by the challenges that lie ahead of us. However, the one thing that has emerged, time and again over the last two years is the positivity and resilience of the Wesley community. We have gathered and celebrated in person where possible, and adapted where we needed to. We have found novel ways to connect, to share information, to support and encourage each other, and to retain our spirit of optimism.
We are planning a full program of activities for 2022, starting with the premise that we will be able to come together in person. We are acutely conscious that there have been two years when new parents have not been able to have the normal experiences of engagement with the Wesley community, and our primary focus is to bring everyone together and enhance the sense of belonging that is the hallmark of Wesley College.
However, we are realistic in the knowledge that there will be unexpected challenges, particularly in the early part of the school year. The situation changes, literally daily, and we will do everything we can to support the school to address these challenges. The Wesley Parents WiSE page should be your first port of call, in terms of information and engagement. Make sure that you have opted in to the WP page, so you are updated on the social events and information sessions that we host as well as any changes that may arise.
We encourage you to attend the wide range of events that we have planned. Take these opportunities to enjoy re-engaging with the families you already know, but also to form new friendships and welcome new families into the fold.
“I’m living my best life” is a phrase that my daughter has appropriated, and it is a powerful and positive sentiment that brought a smile to my face even in the darkest days of the pandemic... I am feeling positive about Wesley 2022, and excited to have the opportunity to get to know you all better, and to share wonderful experiences. Despite the turbulence of the past few weeks, it does feel like the marathon finish line is close… remain optimistic, be kind to each other, stay healthy, and let’s make the coming school year memorable for all the right reasons!
