Service details Corporal Stanley Martin was killed on the first day of the second battle of Bullecourt. The 22nd Battalion was on the left side of the Australian attack and suffered badly from machine gun fire from enemy positions in the town. Over 400 casualties.
 
His brother Hector served in the 45 Battalion and was wounded at Poziers in France. Another brother, Arthur, died of illness on return to Australia in 1916 and his sister, Mable, was a nurse who served in Egypt, France, Italy and Heliopolis. He also had a cousin, Captain DAMartin who was awarded the Military Cross.
