The Kid’s Village at the Clunes Booktown Festival was constructed with an extra flourish this year, when our students from Group 101 decorated the space to resemble an enormous garden.
Given Costa from Gardening Australia was taking part, sharing stories about flowers and creating flower craft with children, the floral theme they chose was particularly apt. Our ‘Be Creative’ art elective students made streamers, giant banners, signs and even a wall stand hung with ‘kokodamas’ (Japanese moss balls) to create the effect.

‘It was pretty fun during the process of setting up for Booktown,’ said art elective student Natalia. ‘I got to make some cool stuff that people from outside saw when they came to the event.’
Clunes was buzzing with excitement as book lovers flocked to the festival. All of our students volunteered in some capacity over the weekend, working in various roles alongside members of the local community. They took great pride in welcoming visitors from near and far, eagerly sharing the knowledge they had gained throughout their time at Clunes. Locals praised their genuine enthusiasm, with many students also contributing to the entertainment, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.
‘The musical performances at Booktown showcased their talent and the fun spirit we’ve come to expect from this group,’ said Tara Clark, Head of Wesley at Clunes. ‘It was heartwarming to see them supporting one another in the audience as well. I couldn’t be prouder of them all.'
