Here we are once again, looking towards the closing of another year; and what a productive year it has been for the Old Wesley Collegians Association. By December, we will have re-tweaked our Constitution, finalised the Memorandum of Understanding between the OWCA and the Collegians Football Club and locked in our planning sessions that will allow us to create our next five year strategy, taking us through to 2030.

Our recent reunions have been very well attended. It has been such a privilege to experience the excitement in the rooms at these key milestone moments; the first ever Glen Waverley Campus 30-year reunion in October, the St Kilda Road Campus 30-year reunion and the combined St Kilda Road and Glen Waverley Campuses' Class of 2022 reunion with 103 engaged OWs buying a ticket!

It was amazing to be a part of the Collegians Football Club Senior Men's Grand Final win at the end of September. Congratulations to club President Rod Nancarrow (OW1982) and Captain Sam Hibbins (OW2011), as well as the entire club and the committee on a fantastic season. It is an honour for the OWCA to be an ongoing, permanent partner with the longest running and most successful club in the VAFA competition.

Following our AGM in June, the OWCA was pleased to welcome two new members to our Executive Board, Rick Morris (OW2004) and Luca Jolson (OW2022).

Professionally, Rick is a leader in the recreational health and wellbeing industry, but many of you would know him as the President, Captain, Treasurer and Community Relations Manager of the very prosperous Old Wesley Collegians Cricket Club. Rick has played an integral role in the relationship between the OWCC and the Old Mayo College Cricket Club in Rajasthan, India. He is also the Head Coach of the Collegians Football Club Under 19s team.

As for Luca, he completed his time at Wesley College only last year in the IB Diploma Program. He is currently studying a double degree in Law and Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at Monash University and spends his free time tutoring Year 11 and 12 students in IB Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Over the past year, there have been numerous OW volunteers giving back to students at the College by offering their time and expertise – whether it be speaking at Founders’ Day or other themed assemblies, partaking in networking, mentoring and career events and sessions, or being involved in the Primary Years Program Exhibition at both campuses. We earnestly thank those OWs who have so willingly given their time.

Please note, the OWCA Calendar of events and reunions for 2024 is available here now. Make a diary note now of those dates that are relevant to you. As always, stay tuned to the OWCA social channels, Instagram and Facebook, or visit owca.net for more timely updates.

It has been a particularly enjoyable year serving the OWCA as its President. The privilege to travel overseas to represent and connect with OWs from all over the world was an honour. I thank the College for this opportunity.

Warmest holiday greetings and best wishes for the upcoming year from the OWCA. We look forward to connecting with you again in 2024.
