Students at the Yiramalay/Wesley Studio School stepped outside their comfort zone and took a few risks to create Gilandirrani (to become grown up), with the support of Sybille Wenger and Ryan Jenkins from Theatre Kimberley, and Andrea Ousley, Mark Graham and Bronson Morris from the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA)
The Theatre Kimberley and NICA visit enabled students to explore new skills in a culturally, physically and emotionally safe environment.
According to Ned McCord, Executive Director at Yiramalay, the Theatre Kimberley and NICA performance experience was one students are unlikely to forget. ‘The outcome was more than we could have hoped for. It showcased the talents of our students for all to admire. With lighting and video equipment, and other resources provided by Theatre Kimberley and NICA, the rehearsals and performance reached an impressive level.’
