Psychology students visit Junior School

As part of their VCE course, our St Kilda Road Psychology students visited the Junior School recently. The students are currently studying Jean Piaget’s theory of cognitive development, and were keen to find out about the thinking styles of the Junior students at different developmental stages. 

They observed Preps’ and Year 4s’ responses on a range of cognitive tasks using materials such as plasticine, straws and plastic counters. The data collected in this exercise will be analysed in a Psychology assessment task.

As well as giving the VCE students an opportunity to extend their knowledge with some real-life data collection, it was fantastic to see the positive connections they formed with the Junior students during these fun activities.
