I am thrilled to report that the St Kilda Road campus has had an extremely positive start to the 2022 academic year.

The long-awaited reintroduction of morning Homeroom for ECLC-Year 6 and Tutor Group for Years 7-12 has been warmly welcomed by students and staff alike. It has been wonderful to walk through the campus of a morning and experience the buzz of new connections and conversations and see the excitement spilling over prior to classes officially starting for the day.

This important time and place for connection in a young person’s day helps to establish a deep sense of value and belonging - critical factors for improved learning and wellbeing.

Beyond the classroom, our theatres are in full swing, musical rehearsals are up and running, debating training is underway and our sports fields, gymnasiums and rowing sheds are a hive of activity. If this is our new normal, 2022 promises to be a wonderful year.

The start of a new school year marks the end of one year and the beginning of another. We don’t get that clean line of demarcation with a pandemic, but what we do get is an opportunity to challenge our thinking and embrace a new beginning, an opportunity to re-set and move forward.  This is that time.

We have spent the past two years reacting to disruption. Let’s now free ourselves from the exhaustion of responding to a pandemic we cannot control and start thinking about how we can move forward and create a ‘new normal.’ Welcome to 2022…. a year of reconnection and restoration for SKR!
