The students have quickly settled into the routines of the school year.

The classrooms are busy learning places and the students have taken no time in rekindling old friendships and exploring new ones. Many of these relationships blossom during recess and lunchtime when the students venture outside or to alternate spaces to their classroom.

Whilst the Elsternwick campus has a relatively small footprint, there are many spaces in the main playground, as well as the ECLC playground, that students can use during their free play. Some of these include:

The playground – Our new playground (built at the beginning of 2021) challenges our youngest and engages our oldest students. It is a popular play spot at all times of the day.

PLAYGROUND

The Annexe – A great place for students to sit and talk, play games or get out of the weather.

The Big Lawn – Students who love ball games tend to make their way to the Big Lawn. The students can borrow equipment from the sports shed to throw and kick around.  There is also the “Rocky”, which is a mechanical game that calls for teamwork and good communication.

The Construction area – This is a busy place which allows students to bring their imagination to life using the wooden blocks and/ or plastic connectors.  The Wesley Manor, a large doll house, also forms part of this area for students to role-play life at home.

The Fairy Garden – created by our families in 2020, this small nook outside the Library is home to fairies and toadstool houses.

The Library and lunchtime clubs are provide opportunities for the students to participate.

We encourage parents to talk to their children about their play as much as their classroom learning as developing positive relationships is an essential part of their educational journey.
